The Consolation Prizes were won by the following: €100 The Flemings - sold by O’Grady’s Bar; €50 James & Killie - sold by Pat Foley; €25 William Byrne - sold by Kerry; €25 Joan O’Shea - sold at Field. Next week’s jackpot will be €14,400. SENIOR MEN: Glorious Sunshine awaited the squads and supporters at JP O’Sullivan Park on Saturday evening, where Laune Rangers were defeated by visiting Tralee side Na Gaeil in the County SFL Division Three. Na Gaeil opened the scoring in the first minute with a point from Kieran O’Donovan, but Laune Rangers were much better in the opening minutes as their first score gave them the lead with Jack O’Connor finishing a great run by kicking the ball to the

bottom corner of the net for a goal. This was followed by long range points by Mike Frank Russell and John Sheehan to put Rangers ahead by 4. Diarmuid Herlihy and Mike Griffin pointed for the visitors before Jack O’Connor added a point to see Laune Rangers lead by 1-3 to 0-3 after fifteen minutes. The second quarter was relatively evenly balanced with both sides putting a number of shots wide. Two Colm O’Shea frees were met by points from Mike Griffin (free) & Eoin Walsh to leave a goal between the sides at the break, although they may have gone in level as Na Gaeil’s Andrew Barry rattled the back stanchion but outside of the post in the 20th minute. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-5, Na Gaeil 0-5. The third quarter was completely dominated by Na Gaeil. An early pointed free by Mike Griffin was cancelled out by Connor Clarke for Rangers before Diarmuid Herlihy followed up a point with goal for his side as the corner forward got his fist to a high ball directing it to the net. Darragh Carmody (2 frees), Jamie Lowham and Jack Carmody all pointed to see Na Gaeil leading by 1-11 to 1-6 with a quarter to play. Laune Rangers fought back again and scored their second goal as Connor Clarke smashed the ball to the net following a quick free that caught everybody off guard. A Colm O’Shea point for Rangers was followed by a wonder point by Mike Frank Russell to tie the game up with five minutes to play. A Colm O’Shea free put Rangers ahead but it was quickly matched by Darragh Carmody for Na Gaeil, and the visitors showed great nerve to score two points in injury time through Jack Carmody and Jamie Lowham, while Tony Lyons got enough contact on a late shot at goal to force the ball onto the crossbar. However, Na Gaeil had enough done to take both League points back to Tralee. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-9, Na Gaeil 1-14. Having taken the lead with a few minutes left, Laune Rangers will be disappointed to have lost this game, & will hope that they won’t be ruing those lost points at the end of the year. Laune Rangers remain mid-table with Na Gaeil right in contention in the race for promotion.
