Ballyduff top the league table as championship approaches
FIXTURES have been made for Round 1 of the Garvey’s Supervalu senior Hurling Championship.
On Saturday, July 1 there is a double bill in Austin Stack Park where Crotta O’Neills play Kilmoyley at 5:30 pm followed by Causeway and St Brendans at 7:15pm. On Friday, July 7 at Austin Stack Park, Ballyheigue play Lixnaw and on the following evening at the same venue Abbeydorney play Ballyduff at 5:30pm.
County SHL
BALLYDUFF are now clear leaders of the Credit Union County Hurling League Division 1 table, with 10 points from five games, following their 4-25 to 1-11 win over Ballyheigue last Friday.
Causeway had a 1-14 to 0-12 win over Kilmoyley while St. Brendan’s received a walkover from Abbeydorney. Fixtures for this week: On Thursday - Kilmoyley v St. Brendan’s (7:30) and Abbeydorney v Crotta (8:00) and on Friday - Lixnaw v Ballyduff (7:30). Check with clubs for exact fixture details.
County MHL
AS some players had not finished exams, round 1 of the County Minor hurling leagues was deferred until on Monday next, June 26.
Causeway has been upgraded to Division 1A where they will join South Kerry, Lixnaw, Crotta and St Brendans.
On Monday Crotta play Causeway and South Kerry play St Brendans. Division 1B sees Kilmoyley play Ballyheigue and Ballyduff play Abbeydorney.
A Kerry Minor hurling trial will take place on this Saturday, June 24 at the John Mitchels GAA Centre at 5.30pm.
Hurling Workshops
THERE are a number of Hurling Workshops organised for South Kerry Hurling over the next few weeks.
On Monday, June 26 a Workshop for Under 10 and Under 12 Coaches will be given by Ger Downes, former Limerick City GDA. Monday, July 3 will see Martin Fogarty, the National Hurling Development Manager conduct a session for Under-14 and Under-16 coaches.
Venue for both, which are free of charge, is Killarney Community College, with a 7.15pm starting time. Further details from David O’Dea, Games Development Administrator for hurling in South Kerry [087-2170994].
Cúl Camps
WITH the 2017 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps just a few weeks away, registration is now open. Hurling venues in Kerry are: Causeway & Rathmore (3 - 7 July), Lixnaw and Ballyduff (10 - 14 July), Ballyheigue and Kenmare (17 - 21 July), Abbeydorney, Ardfert and Fitzgerald Stadium (31 July - 4 Aug.), Crotta O’Neill’s - Dromakee (7 - 11 August) and Kilmoyley and Tralee Parnells - Caherslee (14 - 18 August).
Cost is €60 per child with reductions for additional members of families. Open to primary school children, boys and girls between 6 and 13 years of age. Mondays to Fridays, 10am - 2.30pm daily. Further details & online registration at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie County SHL
