Kenmare / Kilgarvan bow out in quarterfin­als

KENMARE / Kilgarvan were hosted by Mooncoin GAA in Kilkenny.

They played matches on Friday against Young Irelands, Kilkenny who were mentored by Charlie Carter, Pat O’Neill and DJ Carey former Kilkenny players with 15 All-Ireland medals between them.

Young Irelands proved too strong for Kenmare / Kilgarvan and the final score was Young Irelands 2-12 Kenmare / Kilgarvan 0-4. The next match on Friday was against Portaferry of Down. This was a much closer game and Kenmare / Kilgarvan were unlucky to lose by four points. The final score was Kenmare / Kilgarvan 2-5 Portaferry 2-9.

On Saturday morning Kenmare / Kilgarvan played their hosts Mooncoin, after a great game of hurling the final score was Kenmare / Kilgarvan 1-5 Mooncoin 2-12. On Saturday evening Kenmare / Kilgarvan travelled to Ferns to the Wexford GAA Centre of Excellence to play Na Piarsaigh in the shield Quarter-final. Kenmare / Kilgarvan played some super hurling and it was 1-1 to 1-2 when Na Piarsaigh got a free which they converted a free into a goal. The final score was Kenmare / Kilgarvan 2-2 Na Piarsaigh 4-7. The large group of Kenmare / Kilgarvan supporters who travelled to Kilkenny witnessed some excellent hurling over the two days and a fantastic time was had by all.
