Senior League is nearing completion

THIS year’s Frank Doran East Kerry Senior league is nearing completion, with just three games remaining.

Two of these are fixed this week, the Division 2 Final, Firies v Templenoe, on Friday June 23 in Glenflesk at 7.30pm. This promises to be a cracking game between two evenly matched teams.

On Saturday, June 23 the second relegation play off sees Currow at home to Spa at 7pm. The winner remains in division 1 next year. Extra-time applies for both games. The third outstandin­g fixture, the Division 1 Final, Rathmore v Fossa, is on Wednesday July 19 at 7.30pm.

Neutral venue to be confirmed.

Minor League

THE Tatler Jack East Region Minor League commences on Thursday, June 22 at 7.30pm with round 1.

There are three divisions in the league. Division 1 (15-a-side) will consist of four teams: Dr. Crokes, Firies, Rathmore and Tuosist / Templenoe / Kilgarvan. Kilgarvan / Tuosist / Templenoe are to name the three Kenmare players that will play with Kilgarvan / Tuosist / Templenoe before commenceme­nt of Minor leagues, on Thursday June 22.

Division 2 (13/15-a-side) will consist of five teams being Beaufort, Cordal / Scartaglin, Legion, Glenflesk and Gneeveguil­la. The final will be 15-a-side.

Division 3 (13-a-side) will consist of four teams i.e. Kilcummin, Fossa, Currow and Spa. The final can be played as 15-a-side only with agreement from both clubs involved, well in advance of the final. Otherwise the final will be 13-a-side.

The teams in each division will play each other once in the league. First placed team are in the final with home advantage. Second and third placed teams to play semi-final with second placed team having home advantage. Kerry Under 17s are not eligible to play. Kerry Minor players are excluded from playing in East Region Minor Leagues.

However, a player dropped off the Kerry Minor training panel of 30 (after Munster final) can then play in the East Region Minor leagues with their clubs. Should the Kerry minors be knocked out of the All-Ireland Championsh­ip in August, players on the Kerry minor training panel of 30 cannot then play in the East Kerry Minor leagues.

Any walkovers will incur a fine of €50. While round 1 has been fixed for Thursday June 22, the remaining rounds and games will be picked up as teams drop out of the County Minor Championsh­ip. All games are to go ahead as per fixtures with no postponeme­nts.

Should a games not go ahead or should a team teams be unable to field a team, the game will be awarded.

MD O’Sheas League

THE East Region U-14 league got under way on Monday night with Round 1.

The Division 3 game, Dr Croke B v Spa was postponed and goes ahead in Lewis road on Wednesday at 7pm. The league continues with Round 2 on Monday, June 26 at 7pm.
