Castleisland Golf Club: a golfing gateway to the Kingdom

-

DESCRIBED as a ‘Gateway to Kerry’ golf course, Castleisland Golf Club is up there with some of the county’s best courses when it comes to beautiful scenery and warm welcomes. Since opening in 2002, the club have maintained a vibrant membership luring golfers from the north Kerry and west Limerick regions. Moreover, its proximity to the N21 also make it a perfect spot for tourists and people away on business trips in the Kingdom.

This beautifully designed parklands course is set on 200 acres and is a major facility for north Kerry. It is an economy range golf club that offers good prices and packages for members and visitors.

“We are an important asset to the area and it’s a gem of a course with beautiful views of the Killarney mountains and Sliabh Luachra. Our course is part of the wider amenities in the area like Crag Caves and Knocknagoshel Shooting Range. In that sense, it’s great to have a golf course,” said club member, Dan Nelligan.

Dan explains how some clubs in the west Limerick region have had to close in recent years and now that Castleisland Golf Club have come through the recession, its priority is to consolidate its key strengths as a place to come and play golf.

This is a club with a bright future and right now the focus is on the ‘Dick Fitz Cup’ which takes place in September involving teams of four. The prize is a weekend away sponsored by Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House and Spa Hotel.

The ‘Scratch Cup’ is also scheduled for August 19 when minor, junior and intermediate teams will compete and this event is sponsored by Rhyno Mills, Castleisland.
