THE Garveys Supervalu Senior Hurling Championsh­ip got underway on Saturday last with two first round games in Austin Stack Park, the second of which between St Brendans and Causeway turned out to be a fascinatin­g game where extra time could not separate the sides with the scoreboard reading 2-18 to St Brendans and 3-15 to Causeway at the final whistle.

The Round 1 replay between Causeway and St Brendans will be played on the weekend of July 16 along with Round 2A and 2B games. Exact dates and times will be confirmed after the Round 2 draw this weekend.

The opening game, between reigning champions Kilmoyley and Crotta O’Neills was dominated by the respective free takers with Shane Nolan for Crotta and Daniel Collins for Kilmoyley getting the bulk of the scores in a game the champions won on a score of 3-16to0-14.

The remaining games in Round 1 will be played this weekend. On Friday, Ballyheigu­e play Lixnaw at 7.30pm and on Saturday, Abbeydorne­y play Ballyduff at 5.30pm. Both games will be played at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, with extra-time if necessary.

Round 2 will be played on July 16, Round 3 on August 6, the semi-finals on weekend of August 26 and the final is scheduled for Sunday, September 10. Minor Hurling League Round 1 results

Hurling Cúl Camps 2017

THE Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps continue on Monday, July 10 at Lixnaw and Ballyduff. The Lixnaw camp will be held at Finuge GAA grounds. Cost is €60 per child with reductions for additional members of families.

Tralee Parnells will run a club summer hurling and camogie camp from Tuesday to Thursday, July 11-13 at Caherslee for 7 to 13 year olds. Details from club officers.
