-

COUNTY JUNIOR LEAGUE: Rd 5 Piarsaigh Na Dromoda vs Waterville this weekend; Day/Time TBC.

Sraith Sinsir An Chontae SFL Rd 8: Piarsaigh Na Dromoda vs Brosna on Sunday July 16th away to Brosna. Comhghairdeas to Donal Jer O Sullivan Dromeragh & Charmaine Lawlor on their recent engagement. SRAITH SINSIR CHIARRAÍ ROUND 7 VENUE : DENIS DOWLING PARK DATE: SATURDAY 1ST JULY 2017

RESULT : PÍARSAIGH NA DROMODA 1.09 BALLYDONOGHUE 0.10 There would be no disputing that the two points collected by Piarsaigh na Dromoda in Coolard North Kerry last Saturday evening were in the main due to a tremendous performance by goalkeeper Brian Ó Laoire. While he was tested in the first half by Bally’s Stephen Foley it was in the second half where he earned his stripes. It was a good start by Dromid with their first four points coming from frees courtesy of Criostóir Ó Faircheallaigh and Tomás Ó Curráin who went on to score the only goal of the match in the second quarter. The Pearses dominated for large parts of the half with Caoimhín Ó Laoire taking control at mid-field. Donnacha Shine Ó Súilleabháin returning from injury and Pádraig J Ó Suilleabháin worked well together scooping up any loose ball and pumping it up the line to the forwards. A comfortable lead at half time saw Dromid at 1.07 and Ballydonoghue at 0.03. The second half was a question of throwing caution to the wind by the North Kerry side as they had no choice but to bring the game to the opposition and that’s exactly what they did. Three wides in quick succession by Dromid did not help their cause. In the meantime, the Bally boys were dominating at mid-field and pushed up giving them a number of opportunities to score goals at point blank range. It was Brian Ó Laoire numerous saves which were of inter county standard that prevented the hosts from taking the lead for the first time in the match. The only scores by the Pearses in the second half came from play from the captain and a very tenacious Gearóid Ó Súilleabháin but it was enough to hold onto the lead. A goal opportunity from a free was Bally’s last opportunity to snatch a win in the last minute of injury time. The final score was Piarsaigh na Dromoda 1.09 to Ballydonighue’s 0.10. Seámus Mulvihill from St. Senan’s ably refereed following his equally good performance at the South Kerry versus East Kerry Under 21’s championship earlier in the week. The next game is another away fixture in two week’s time against Brosna for the Pearses who are now top of the table in Division 3.
