A bar with a welcoming atmosphere…

-

THE O’Sullivan family were no strangers to Rosspoint’s unique bar atmosphere before they took over the reins which is why they know exactly what it takes to make it a success. This is a popular spot among locals who are basically the backbone of the business once tourists have all gone home for another year. Spacious and atmospheric, the bar is designed in a boat shape that comprises of a spectacularly designed stone tower exterior. It’s an amazing place to sit, relax and look out over the Atlantic Ocean, particularly when the weather is a little unkind.

Darran’s main priority is to get the blend right between catering for a vibrant tourist trade while also retaining the bar’s unique community aspect - a place where everyone knows your name sort of feel. Live music at the weekends is important and some midweek sessions are to be expected now the tourist season is in full swing.

“The tourist season is obviously a welcome boost to us but the strategy is to focus on generating and facilitating a year-round trade; one that incorporates a mixture of atmosphere in the bar through music and sport, but also those important social and community occasions. Yes, we’re located in a prime tourist destination on the Ring of Kerry, but the Rosspoint Bar and Restaurant still has that feel of being ‘a local’ for 12 months of the year,” said Darran. Keeping things local 14 staff have been employed so far with even more to come as the season gets busier so bringing employment opportunities to the area.
