DESPITE missing out on a top award at the Event Industry Awards in Dublin on Friday night, the team at the INEC Killarney can hold their heads up high this week.

The South Kerry venue were thrilled last week to be shortlisted in the Best Purpose Built Event Venue in the Event Industry Awards, which was eventually won by the Croke Park Meetings & Events,

The INEC Killarney beat off stiff competition this year to bag a spot in the shortlist which included Aviva Stadium, Croke Park Meetings & Events, Guinness Storehouse, The Helix and Thomond Park Stadium.

The requirement for shortlist of nomina- tions picked out Best Purpose Built Event Venues that take a spectacular event space and marries it with a great team - front of house, catering and support - to deliver outstanding results on a regular basis.

The INEC Killarney is the largest music and multipurpose venue in Ireland outside Dublin, and Ireland’s only residential event centre playing host to national and international live music and entertainment acts and shows.

Past acts including in the venue have included Hozier, The Script, Kodaline, Tom Jones, Snow Patrol, Cliff Richard, Daniel O’Donnell, Kenny Rogers, The Coronas, Van Morrison, Dara O Briain and Riverdance.

The recent production of Dirty Dancing saw over 10,000 people mambo their way through the doors of the INEC over 6 consecutive nights February 27th to March 31st.

“We are looking forward to a busy few months with the best of Irish acts retuning this autumn including Imelda May, Gavin James, Nathan Carter and a few more yet to be announced” said Patrick O’Donoghue, the managing Director of the INEC Killarney.

The award ceremony took place at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin last Friday.
