The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Replay fails to live up to its billing as Brendans see off Causeway in ASP
THE 2017 Garvey’s Supervalu Kerry senior hurling championship continued last weekend with three games played.
The Round 1 replay between St Brendans and Causeway on Saturday night did not live up to the excitement of the drawn encounter between the sides but still the game went right down to the wire before St Brendans prevailed against fourteen-man Causeway on a score of 1-13 to 2-7. The winners go on to play Kilmoyley on Saturday July 29 in Round 2A while Causeway will play Crotta O’Neills in Round 2B on the same date.
On Sunday, Lixnaw booked their place in the semi final when defeating Ballyduff in a high scoring encounter by 3-19 to 1-16 with a feature of the game being the marksmanship of Padraig Boyle for Ballyduff who scored 1-14, including seven frees, three ‘65s and 1-5 from play.
Ballyduff go forward to Round 3. Meanwhile Abbeydorney also advanced to Round 3 when defeating Ballyheigue on a score of 2-13 to 0-13. Ballyheigue now exit the competition.
Round 3 will be played on Sunday August 6.
