Fossa to take on Rathmore in exciting East Kerry league decider in Stadium

- Áine Ní Shuilleabháin

FOSSA take on Rathmore Wednesday in Fitzgerald Stadium in the division 1 final of the Frank Doran Safeguard Security East Kerry Senior league.

This promises to be an interesting final between two teams that topped their respecitive divisions and also the combined league table. Rathmore topped the Division 1A league table with six points having won their games against Legion, Currow and Kilcummin. While Dr Crokes came out on top in Rathbeg by a goal (3-12 to 2-12).

In Division 1B, Fossa topped the league table, also with six league points. Fossa won their games against Spa and Listry and drew with Glenflesk and Gneeveguilla. If necessary, extra time will be played.

THE Tatler Jack East Region Minor League continues with round 2 games on Thursday and round 3 on Thursday week, July 27. All games are at 7.30pm.

The round 2 fixtures are Division 1: Rathmore V Dr. Crokes; Division 2: Beaufort V Gneeveguilla, Glenflesk V Killarney Legion, Scartaglen/CordalBye. Division 3: Currow V Fossa, Spa V Kilcummin.

Under 14 League

THE final games in the league section of the MD O’Shea East Region Under 14 league will have been played on Monday, July 17.

This was a closely contested competition with great games between the sides. It is planned to fix the semi Finals, which promise to be exciting games, for Monday July 24.

Check out the East Kerry web site (eastkerrygaa.com) for fixtures. The Division 1 league table is very close and the results of the round 5 games will be important. After the round 4 games Division 1A saw Glenflesk with six points, Kenmare and Fossa on five points, closely followed by Dr Crokes and Fossa on four points each.

In division 1B, after 4 rounds, Legion topped the table with six league points, while Kilcummin and Listry /Keel are on four points each. As Kilgarvan / Tousist are not in a position to field a team for round 5, Listry/Keel, against whom they are drawn, will be awarded the two league points.

Kilgarvan / Tousist will not be eligible to play in the knock out rounds under the rules of the competition. In Division 3, Cordal / Scartaglin having won all their games to date, have qualified for the final, at a neutral venue.

However, which teams reach the semi final being the two teams who are second and third on the league table, is wide open and the result of Mondays game between Spa and Rathmore will be important.
