1. GET READY TO RUN KILLARNEY

EXPERIENCE Irelan’s most scenic 10km/half-marathon this weekend when the ‘Gleneagle Run Killarney’ takes place on the morning of Saturday July 22.

An event open to men and women alike, walkers and newcomers and those who just want a challenge, the run will offer competitor­s the chance to run through Killarney National Park and Muckross House.

The Half marathon will start at 8:30am with all runners needing to be at the Gleneagle Hotel for 7am; the 10km run will start at 10am with all runners expected to be at the Gleneagle Hotel between 8:30-9:30.

2. TARBERT LIGHTHOUSE TO OPEN TO PUBLIC

IN what is sure to be an exciting day for all, the famous Tarbert Lighthouse is set to open to the public on Sunday July 23.

There will be free entry on the day with guided chaperones set to be on hand to make sure you get the best out of the experience.

3. BALLYHEIGU­E BEACH TO HOST SANDSTORM

BALLYHEIGU­E Beach is set to be the scene of a gruelling challenge this coming Saturday July 22 as Spin South West’s ‘Sandstorm’ gets set to hit North Kerry.

Test your limits with a 5k beach run full of challengin­g obstacles including the tyre mound, the net crawl and the eight foot wall- all guaranteed to test participan­ts!

Starting at 11am on the morning, tickets are set to cost €20 are are available through the Spin South West website.

4. ENJOY SOME GIN AT THE ASHE HOTEL

THIS coming weekend, the Ashe Hotel is getting set to celebrate all things gin when they host their very own Gin Festival on the weekend of July 21 to July 23.

The weekend will kick off on Friday night with a terrace where hotel Head Chef will cook up a storm on the barbecue with live music from Eclecto.

All events over the weekend are free of charge, table bookings are recommende­d however.

5. ENJOY LADIES DAY AT KILLARNEY RACES

THE style stakes are high at the Dawn Milk Ladies Day at Killarney Races where well-dressed women and men will battle it out for the title of the best dressed.

Taking place on Thursday July 20, top Irish model and Dancing with the Stars contestant Thalia Heffernan will join Kerry football legend and winner of Dancing with Stars Aidan O’Mahony to judge the style on the day.

Ladies and gents are advised to arrive early as the judges will be selecting finalists on the race course from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

6. BALLYMAC SET TO GO VINTAGE

THE Kingdom Veteran Vintage and Classic Car Club are getting ready to hold their annual Ballymac Vintage Car and Honda 50 Run.

Taking place on Friday July 21 at 7pm from O’Riada’s Bar,this years event will be in aid of Down Syndrome Kerry.

7. MILLTOWN’S PERSON OF THE YEAR

JOIN the Milltown community this coming Saturday night July 22 at 9:30pm in The Plough Bar.

A presentati­on will be made on the night to the ‘Milltown Community Person of the Year 2017’.

The award acknowledg­es the work done by community workers to make Milltown a better place to live.

8. LIVE RECORDING AT THE INEC

MICHAEL English will record his first live DVD at the INEC in Killarney on Saturday July 22 - anyone interested in taking part can but tickets from Ticketmast­er or the INEC.

9. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND

JULY is here so why not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are four parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel and the Tralee Junior parkrun.

These completely free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.

Those looking to take part in the run for the first time can register at parkrun.ie where they can also print their necessary barcode.

10. GET DANCING IN AID OF CHARITY

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fund in Tralee will host their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month.

The dances start at 9pm every Wednesday night with the cost of entry for each night set at €8.

The lineup for July is as follows: July 19 - Eddie Lee and James Kelliher and July 26 - Peter Burke.
