Step up in distance no problem for Lisloose Kingdom

-

DESPITE the deluge of rain that fell on Friday evening, patrons were served some good competitive races over the night’s card.

The Martin Moriarty trained Lisloose Kingdom took the step up in trip with relative ease as he scored in fine fashion in Race 8 which was over the 570 yd trip for grade A0/A1. The 5/2 shot was quickly into stride and a good dash of early foot saw him dominate the early exchanges. Indeed, he was to race independent throughout as the chasing pack failed to make any inroads into the local runners lead, and he stayed on well up the straight to cross the line a full 5 ½ lengths clear of Razldazl Beth. The winning time was a respectable 31.11 and on this showing the Liam Lynch and Seamus Begley owned runner’s future may well be over the longer distance.

The fastest run on the night for the standard trip came in the last race on the card when Bolus Pete took advantage of trouble at the opening bend to claim his first success in over 4 months. Having not enjoyed the best of starts from trap 1, the winner swept to the front along the rails following the first bend skirmish and opened up a commanding lead down the back. Owned by Flor O’ Shea and Kevin Hannafin, Bolus Pete showed all his experience out in front running the final two curves superbly and passed the lights in a respectable 29.02. Rafa Babys Baby ran on well to claim second a length back from the winner and she should return to winning ways sooner rather than later.

On an evening of heavy showers over the Kingdom, the aptly named Distant Rain broke her maiden at the fifth time of asking in Race 6 over 325 yds (S3). Drawn in the striped jacket, the 4/1 bellied his odds with a gritty performance to finish 2 ½ lengths clear of Mohane Denzel in a time 17.75.

Another dog tasting victory for the first time was Searchforahero from the inform kennels of Gerard Dowling from Listowel. Having been luckless over the shorter trip he made the step up in trip for this Novice 750 and produced an impressive run to lead home in a winning time of 42.38. Returned at odds of 5/2, the winner hit the front from the third and held his position to the finish despite tiring on the run-in.

Other winners on the night were Patsys Opinion 18.28, Slipalong Sammy 29.92, Teemore Duke 18.25, Southwind Nina 29.08 and Tailteann Storm 29.34.
