ATHLETIC CLUB NOTES

Lotto: No winner of our lotto draw 21/07/2017, numbers drawn were 14, 16, 17 & 20. Sellers prize winner: Shelia O=92 Donoghue, €50 Y/T prize to Donal Moynihan Boherbue, €50 to Denise Cremin Quarry Cross, €40 each Padraig O=92 Sullivan Tournonoug­h, Brid Stack killarney & David Gleeson Gneeveguil­la. Bonus not won numbers drawn were 16, 21, 29 & 30. Next week=92s jackpot €6,800 plus €1,000 bonus.

Summer 1 mile Series: As the rain came down, driven by a strong breeze, athletes were wondering if round 3 of our summer mile series would go ahead on Friday evening last in Knocknagre­e, held it was and it proved to be a great contest. Tommy O=92 Brien Riocht, who has been the leader on series 1 & 2 was again favourite to capture the spoils, but anyone didn=92t have the remarkable Laura Crowe of Riocht in the reckoning. Laura was in tip top form and was part of a phot finish with Tommy O=92 Brien. Both were given the same time of 4 min 42 secs. What a race it was.

Next Friday evening we go to Ballydesmo­nd for the 4th leg, with registrati­on in Bob=92s Bar. Club runners who ran well last Friday evening were 5th Maurice Feehan, 6th Robert Purcell, 9th Anthony Buckley, Shona O=92 Brien was 2nd lady, Shona has been called into The National Squad, 7th Caroline Murphy, 8th Katie Buckley, 9th Maggie Buckley. So roll on Friday evening in Ballydesmo­nd .

National Senior Championsh­ips: Well done to Mairead O=92 Neill who came 3rd in the Hammer in Santry at the weekend.

Juvenile Munster B Competitio­ns: Will be held in Templemore next Saturday, a large contingent from the club are travelling. Best of luck to everyone.

SLIABH LUACHRA COMHALTAS

Well done to all our members who competed last weekend at the Munster Fleadh held in Cork city. As always everyone who competed did the branch proud. We are delighted to have qualifiers going forward to the All- Ireland Fleadh in Ennis (13th to 21st Aug).

Molly Herlihy was placed 2nd in the u12 sean nós dancing competitio­n securing her place at the All- Ireland Fleadh. This is a great achievemen­t, well done Molly. Mark O’ Leary was placed 2nd in the 12-15 age group Irish singing competitio­n also securing his place at the All Ireland finals. Well done Mark. Michelle O’Sullivan was placed 3rd in the u18 English singing competitio­n narrowly missing out on qualificat­ion.

Congratula­tions to our senior ladies who were crowned Munster Champions! Congrats also to their teacher Marie Sheehan on this achievemen­t. The dancers are, Marie Sheehan, Aisling Mc Gillicuddy, Kelly O’Sullivan, Joan Brosnan, Laura Mc Gillicuddy, Jean Counihan, Michelle O’Sullivan and Michelle Brosnan. Well done to all involved.

Congrats also to branch members who have qualified for the All- Ireland senior half set dancing competitio­n. Dancers are Joan Brosnan, Kelly O’Sullivan, Ciarán O’Sullivan and Kieran Browne. Kieran also qualified for the All Ireland senior sean nós dancing competitio­n having being placed 2nd in his competitio­n .

Sliabh Luachra senior set dancers were unlucky not to have qualified after being placed 3rd in their competitio­n. We wish all our qualifiers the very best of luck in Ennis.
