Well done to Aoife O’Reilly who won the County Kerry U16 girls 2000M Walk Championsh­ip. At the same athletic meet which took place at An Riocht track, Castleisla­nd on Saturday July 15th, Gary Randles placed first in the boys U16 Shot Putt competitio­n. In the All Ireland U16 boys Championsh­ip Gary placed 4th in the Shot Putt. This event took place in Tullamore on Sunday July 16th.

DEATHS

Sean Foley, Limerick City and formerly Letter, Kilgarvan passed away on Sunday 16th July 2017. Sean’s Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday 19th July 2017 at 12 noon in St Patrick’s Church, Kilgarvan, with burial afterwards in the local Cemetery. To his relatives and friends we extend our deepest Sympathy.

Eileen Galvin (nee Coffey) Kilbanow, Kilgarvan passed away on Tuesday 18th July 2017. She was predecease­d by her husband John and her sisters Maura and Rita. Eileen was the oldest lady in the Parish. Her Requiem Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church, Kilgarvan at 12 noon on Friday 21st July 2017 with burial afterwards in Kilgarvan Cemetery. To her daughter Margaret, sons Edmund and Adrian, brother Dermot Coffey and extended family we express our deepest sympathy.

KILGARVAN SHOW

The 33rd, annual Kilgarvan show begins at 11:00am on Sunday 6th August 2017. The Show Classes include the following: Cattle, Sheep, Poultry, Dogs, Arts & Crafts, Finals of the Ecofleece Ewe Lamb sponsored by Osmonds, Suffolk Age Ram sponsored by Kilgarvan Show, Bantry Ram, Cook of the Year, Bord Bia Potato Championsh­ip, All Ireland Native Breed Dog and Final of Puppy Parlour sponsored by Eileen Murphy.

Other competitio­n categories include Best Dressed Lady / Gent and Bonny Baby under 6/12/18 months. The Kilgarvan Show Feis is open to all Children from Toddlers to 14 years of age (Contact Margaret on 087 367 09071 for further informatio­n). Other competitio­ns for children include Children’s Sports for boys and girls, the 3 Legged Race and Bag Race. Plenty of fun activities for children also such as Bouncy Castle and Slides, Bungee Trampoline, Swing Boats and Pony Rides. Entertainm­ent for adults too with Tractor Balancing, Thrashing, A Sheep Shearing Demo, A Pets Corner with Rare Breeds, A Vintage Display, A Cross Cut Demonstrat­ion, A Horseshoe Tournament, Trade Stands and a Raffle. The 33rd Show will be officially opened at 3:00pm by Deputy President I.F.A. Richard Kennedy. Magic Delboy, Bumper Soccer, Laser Shooting, Tug of War and Sheaf Tossing also. Big Screen TV for Matches. Full Bar and Catering available. Live Music with The Threshing Mill Boys from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Adults €10, children free. A day of fun and entertainm­ent for all the family.

OPEN GARDEN FOR SIMON

There will be an Open Garden in the Water Margin, Cappanacus­h, Kenmare on August 5th to August 7th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in aid of Cork Simon Community.
