PIARSAIGH NA DROMODA

-

PÍARSAIGH NA DROMODA 2.12 ANNASCAUL 1.06 A pleasant afternoon with a variable breeze made for a good game at a crucial stage in the league at home. There was hunger on both sides but it wasn’t so evident in the first half from the hosts. That said, it was Tomás Ó Curráin who put the first score on the new scoreboard which was courtesy of joint contributions from Dan Tim O’ Sullivan and the club. Annascaul’s first score was in the eighteenth minute from a free which followed on from a black card issued to the Pearses wing back Michéal Ó Síocháin. Immediately afterwards an inspired interception by the visitors resulted in a goal by their star mid-fielder Jason Hickson and they drove on from there taking them into the second half with a three point lead. The half time score was Dromid at 0.04 and Annascaul at 1.04.

The visitors were first out of the traps with their first of only two points in the second half scored in the second minute. It was the midfield combo of Caoimhín Ó Laoire and Aodháin Shine that made their presence felt with a point from each in the seventh and eighth minute respectively. Meanwhile top scorer of the match Criostóir Ó Faircheallaigh continued to add to his tally and Dilan Ó Donnchadha also scored two points in quick succession. Annascaul’s lively full forward James Crean suffered a serious knee injury and went off which saw Dromid take full advantage and push on with goals scored by Aodháin =91Shine’ and Ó Faircheallaigh in the last quarter putting the game out of reach for the visitors. The final score was Piarsaigh na Dromoda 2.12 to Annascaul 1.06 . Pat Sheehy from Cloumacon refereed. The next game is another away fixture on 13th August for the Pearses who remain at the top of Division 3 and they can now look forward to being promoted to Division 2.
