Tralee musician out to make his mark in LA

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

A TRALEE musician has set out to make his mark on the music scene in Los Angeles, setting himself some high ambitions in the process.

Steven Forde, who has in recent times rebranded himself as Stiofán, moved to Los Angeles last year where he has since been touring and playing his music in bars and clubs around the city as he works on his debut album.

“I remember song-writing began as early as primary school, with me even forming a boy band in the Christian Brothers School in Tralee. There was three of us in the group and we would perform songs I wrote in front of the whole class. From that point I don’t think it ever really left me, that desire to write songs and perform them for everyone else to hear,” he says.

“I was very lucky that my family was heavily involved in musical societies so I grew up around that and was able to ascertain a love for the stage from an early age,” he continued.

Since his move to the City of Angels, the pop/hip-hop artist says that he has fallen in love with the creative spirit of the city and that he is not afraid to put in the hard work to make his dreams come true.

“I want to be the very best and so I must work the hardest. I don’t believe in wasting time. There are millions of people here in LA trying to pursue a similar dream and to stand out I must be willing to make the sacrifices they won’t.”
