RAMBLING HOUSE

The August Rambling House session in the Sliabh Luachra Heritage Centre Scartaglen will be on Monday night next August 14. Starting time is 9pm. Admission is free with a raffle and refreshmen­ts on the night. All are welcome.

GRAVEYARD MASS

The annual open air mass in Scartaglen Cemetery will be celebrated on Saturday morning next August 12 at 10am. All items of rubbish should be removed from the cemetery for the celebratio­n of this mass. Those attending are welcome to bring along their own seats if necessary. Everyone welcome.

CHILDCARE CENTRE

Scartaglen Childcare Centre Fundraisin­g Clothing Collection will take place this Wednesday 9th of August, our collectors will take clothing and paired shoes suitable for re-wear, bed linen (not duvets or pillows as we are charged for their disposal), curtains, handbags and belts. Our collection is on-going so if you miss this collection you can still drop bags to the Centre, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Thanks to all who have donated to date.

GAA LOTTO

Scartaglin GAA Club’s latest lotto draw was held in O’ Connors Bar on Monday evening last July 31st . The Jackpot was €9,200 and was not won. Numbers drawn were: 9, 11, 16, 17. Consolatio­n prize-winners in the “Lucky Dip” draw were as follows: €40 Pa Riordan, Scartaglin €30 each to Oisin Reidy, Knockrour. Tim Lenihan, Ballahanto­urig. €20 each to Anne Casey, Scartaglin Village. Denis Buckley, c/o Buckley’s Shop Counguilla. Celam O’ Sullivan, Knocknaske­ha.

The next lotto draw will be in Lyon’s bar on Sunday 20th August for a jackpot of €9,400.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

John Delaney will be present at an Afternoon of Prayer in Scartaglin Church on Sunday August 20th which will commence as usual with the Rosary at 2.30pm and all are welcome.

IRISH HEART FOUNDATION

The annual church gate collection in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation held recently in Scartaglin amounted to €245. A sincere word of thanks to all who contribute­d to and supported this collection and to those who helped to take it up.

DINNER FOR PRIESTS

Bishop Ray Browne would like to invite priests who are home for vacation and also to any priest from abroad who has retired to live in Kerry, to gather for a meal on this Wednesday, August 9th at 6.30pm at the Parish Centre, the Church of the Resurrecti­on, Park Road, Killarney. COLLECTION

The annual Diocesan collection in aid of Pastoral and Retreat Centres in the Diocese of Kerry will be taken up at masses this weekend.

CUL CAMP

The Kerry GAA Kelloggs Cul Camp for Scartaglen will commence on Monday morning next August 14th and will continue up to and including Friday August 18th . The venue is Pat Casey Memorial Park.

KERRY U17S

Best of luck to the Kerry U17 team and management who play Roscommon in the All Ireland Semi Final on this Saturday August 12 in Ennis in particular best of luck to Eddie Horan from Coolnagerr­agh and Sean O Connell from Castleisla­nd who captains the side and Shay Walsh from Counguilla who is on the extended panel.
