RAMBLING HOUSE
A September Rambling House at The Heritage Centre in Scartaglen will take place on Monday evening next September 11 commencing at 9pm. Be sure and come along for a great night of music song and dance, stories, recitation etc. As always admission is free with a raffle and refreshments on the night. Everyone welcome.
SET DANCING CLASSES
There will be a registration evening in the Heritage Centre on this Friday September 8th between 3 and 4pm. Pending on numbers, classes will commence on Friday September 15th at 3.10pm. ACTIVE RETIRED TEA DANCE
Sliabh Luachra Active Retired Group are holding their September Tea Dance in the River Island Hotel Castleisland on Sunday next September 10th 2017. Main course lunch provided. CULTURE NIGHT
Culture Night 2017 will be celebrated nationwide on Friday September 22nd. To mark the occasion at local level, Castleisland Historian Maggie Prendeville Keane will give a talk on the story of the Patrick O; Keeffe Statue, its commission, local artist Mike Kenny only 25 years old getting the job and its launch in August 1983 at the Annual Feile Cheoil. Weather permitting this will take place at the statue at 7.00pm.
At 7.30pm, an exciting line up of the new series of Handed Down (Series 4) will be launched as part of the Sliabh Luachra Music Trail by the Lord Mayor of Kerry and Kate Kennelly -Kerry County Councils Arts Officer. Our line-up this year includes new presenters De Danann founder with Co Kerry parents Charlie Piggott, Terry Moylan author of Johnny O’ Leary’s music collections and old favourites Eoin Stan O’ Sullivan, Maire O’ Keeffe, Matt Cranitch, Paudie O’ Connor and Bryan O’ Leary.
Afterwards we will have snacks and refreshments in the Heritage Centre with music from Guest fiddler John Daly whose roots are in Tureencahill and visiting and local musicians. Please join us to enjoy Culture Night in the heart of Sliabh Luachra.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
The Kerry Cancer Support Group wish to thank all those who supported the Kerry-Cork Health Link Bus fundraising dance held in the River Island Hotel Castleisland in July. The total amount raised came to €2080.
GAA LOTTO DRAW
Scartaglin GAA Club’s Lotto Jackpot is fast approaching the €10,000 mark.
The Jackpot for the next draw is €9,600 and that will be in Flemings Bar on Sunday September 10th. Remember if you’re not in, you can’t win.
AFTERNOON OF PRAYER
The next Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglen will be on Sunday September 17th when Janice and Moss Carrig will be present. All are welcome.
COUNTY LEAGUE
Scartaglen Senior Footballers played their final county league game on Sunday last when they entertained Lispole at The Pat Casey Memorial Park. The final score was Lispole 2-14 Scartaglen 0-10.
Scartaglen played 11 games this season in Division 4 of the County League, they lost 10 and drew 1 and ended up with a solitary county league point from the entire campaign and are now demoted to Division 5 for next year.
