DINGLE MARATHON

The Dingle Marathon & Half Marathon took place on Saturday 2nd August. While the race started off in ideal weather conditions it was not going to last for the entire run and before everybody finished they were exposed to a lot of wind and rain. Weather aside, this is always a very well organised event and this year once again lived up to all expectations.

We had a large number of members taking part this year, with 7 of our members taking part in their very first half marathon. In the marathon we had Thomas Bubendorfer and Susanne Foley. Great to see Thomas getting back to full fitness and Susanne once again achieving another PB on a tough course.

Taking part in the Half we had Roland Eager(7th overall), Colleen Coffey, Ana Prieto, Siobhan Falvey, Anne Gabbett, Gillian Hughes, Margaret Foley, Linda Galvin, Mary Carey, Nuala Murphy, Deirdre Griffin, Elaine Kissane, Theresa Foley, Siobhan Lynch, Michelle Connell, Mags Campbell & Stephen Griffin. Great running by all and a great achievement under tough conditions.

54321 CHALLENGE

The 54321 Challenge sees teams of 5 people take part in an adventure over 4 days, involving 3 cycles and 2 mountain climbs for 1 cause, to generate much needed funds for a number of local charities. The challenge includes cycling the Ring of Kerry, climb Carrauntoohil, cycle from Killarney to the foot of Mt. Brandon before climbing the peak and finally cycling from Dingle to Killarney. Well done to everyone who took part. Congratulations to Sean Murphy who successfully completed the Challenge again this year.
