1. COLOUR RUN SET FOR TRALEE BAY WETLANDS

TRALEE is getting set to host a charity colour run this coming Sunday September 10 and organisers are encouragin­g as many people as possible to come down and take part.

The event will be a 5km walk/ jog fun run that all the family can take part in and which will start fron the Tralee Bay Wetlands at 11am.

All proceeds from the event will go directly towards the Crumlin’s Childrens Hospital, with tickets set to cost €20 for adults, €10 for children 15 and under and €50 a family of four.

2. OAK KERRY TO HOLD CANDLELIGH­T VIGIL

THE fifth annual Open Arms Kerry (OAK) suicide awareness candleligh­t vigil will take place in the Pearse Park in Tralee on the night of Sunday, September 10.

The night will be about alllowing those who have lost a loved one to suicide to take a moment and remember them in a special way.

There will be music there on the night also and the event will run from 10pm to 11pm.

3. WARRIORS KICK OFF PRE-SEASON TOUR

THE Garvey’s Tralee Warriors basketball team will kick off their pre-season tour this coming weekend at the Sports and Leisure Complex in Tralee.

Starting on Saturday September 9, St Pauls will play Ballincoll­ig at 6pm and the Warrirors will play Neptune at 8pm.

The action will continue again on the Sunday when the runners up of the Saturday games will play each other at 2pm with the winners from the other two games playing at 4pm. Tickets will cost €5 for adults and €3 for children.

4. LISTOWEL SET FOR HARVEST FESTIVAL

IT’S that time of year again as Listowel gets set to welcome the seven day ‘Harvest’ festival to the town.

A highlight of the Irish racing calendar, the festival will kick off on Sunday September 10. Great events such as ‘Ladies Day’, the Guiness Kerry National and Guiness Handicap Hurdle are just a few of the highlights of the week.

5. ANNASCAUL GAA GOES TO THE DOGS

ANNASCAUL GAA are set to go to the dogs this weekend as they hold a fundraisin­g night for their club.

Taking place on the night of Saturday September 9 from 7pm onwards, there will be plenty to keep everyone entertaine­d on the night with music and a raffle also taking place.

Tickets are set to cost €10 and are available from club members, The first race is at 7:50pm.

6. ARDFERT SET FOR HARVEST CYCLE

THE fourth annual Ardfert Harvest Cycle will take place this coming Saturday September 9 and is expected to draw big crowds.

Registrati­on will take place in Ardfert National School on Friday September 8 from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturday morning from 8:30 9:45am; registrati­on fee is €25 for adults and €15 for U16’s - the cycle will start at 10am.

7. ARDFERT HARVEST SET FOR KIDS CYCLE

FOLLOWING on from the main Ardfert Harvest cycle on Saturday September 9, there will also be a Kids Fun Cycle on Sunday Septemer 10 from 12pm.

There will be an option for them to take part in a 5km/10km cycle on the day; registrati­on will cost €10.

8. FREE RUGBY OPEN DAY IN KILLORGLIN

KILLORGLIN Rugby Club will host a free open day try out for children at the U8, U10 and U12 age group (participan­ts must be 7 or up to play).

Taking place at the Intermedia­te School in Killorglin at 11:30am on Saturday September 9, this is an opportunit­y to come come down and meet the coaches and see what rugby is all about.

9. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND

SEPTEMBER is here so why not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are four parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel and the Tralee Junior parkrun.

These completely free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.

Those looking to take part in the run for the first time can register at parkrun.ie where they can also print their necessary barcode.

10. GET DANCING IN AID OF CHARITY

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fund in Tralee will host their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month.
