‘It’s a big thing to be recognised in your county’

2016 WINNERS: GARVEY’S SUPERVALU, ROCK STREET, TRALEE

-

THE ‘Best Overall Business Award’ at the inaugural staging of The Kerryman Business Awards went to Garvey’s SuperValu, Rock Street.

The independent judging panel took many factors into consideration when choosing this worthy winner and chief among them was the €2.2 million investment which transformed the Tralee store into a modern, new facility, which a year later is sustaining and creating local employment in the town.

Garvey’s SuperValu were in contention for three of the nine categories up for grabs at last year’s event, also winning ‘Best Retail Premises Award’.

“They’re worthy winners as they have invested hugely in their premises making it a place of high quality and convenience for customers. As well as being a great employer, they also support many local food suppliers,” said Siobhan Murphy, Advertising and Marketing Manager at The Kerryman.

Meanwhile, Tim Moynihan, Assistant Manager at Garvey’s, Rock Street, said of the win: “Obviously we were thrilled to get the award and it’s always a big thing to be recognised in your own county. Everyone is aware of the investment put into the Rock Street store by the Garvey Group and with the standards raised.”

Tim added: “We pride ourselves on supporting local and this award is a fitting testament to that approach.

“We’re very proud of the store and it’s one of the best in the county, if not the country. It’s the culmination of hard work and a dedicated team of staff and we’re pleased this was recognised by the judges.”
