Countdown to crackers in Croker

GOOD luck to Peter Keane, the son of Nuala and the late Tom Keane of Cahirsiveen as he manages the Kerry minors in this Sunday’s All-Ireland minor final versus Derry.

Good luck also to substitute Michael O’Leary of the Renard club who is the son of the late St nMarys Cahirsiveen footballer Mike O’Leary and grandson of the former Kerry footballer and Cahirsiveen Veterinary Surgeon Frank O’Leary.

Tomás Murtagh of Bohola in County Mayo has for many years been a visitor to the Iveragh Peninsula as he is married to Dympna O‘Sullivan, originally of the shop in Ohermong. Tomás is a long suffering passionate Mayo football man who was born in 1957 and in his lifetime has not seen Sam Maguire come to his native county. Mayo last won the trophy as a two in a row in 1950-51.On Tomás’ journeys to South Kerry he has long been envious of all the celebrations of various All-Ireland winning Kerry teams and is ever longing for the day when his beloved boys from the County Mayo will win Sam.

He celebrated his 60th birthday on Saturday, August 26th, the day of the All-Ireland semi-final between Kerry and Mayo with Mayo’s win being the ultimate birthday present.But the icing has yet to be put on his birthday cake. A Mayo win over Dublin in Sunday’s All-Ireland football final would certainly do it.

Meanwhile, John Noel ‘The Pampas’ Cahill is a long time Kerry football supporter domiciled in London for many years.

John Noel earnestly looks forward to his visits to Dublin and the Gresham Hotel in particular in the event of Kerry contesting the All-Ireland final. There he is afforded the opportunity of meeting old friends from home. Greetings to you John Noel and we hope to see you in the Gresham next year when there will be brighter days in Kerry.
