THE LATE KATHLEEN O’CONNELL:

On Saturday, September 2, the death in University Hospital Kerry occurred of Kathleen O’Connell of Corobeg, Valentia, who was pre-deceased by her sister Mary Curran (who passed away a month previously), her husband Jeremiah (who passed away in 2002), her son Brendan and two infant sons. The last of her generation of Valentia Islanders to live in the townland of Corobeg, she resided there throughout her life and was a woman of the land and a good neighbour who operated the family farm there very efficiently and diligently with family members. Requiem Mass for Kathleen O’Connell took place on Tuesday in the church of St Derarca and Teresa of Chapeltown, celebrated by Fr Larry Kelly, PP Cahirsiveen and Fr John Shanahan, the former PP of Valentia. She was laid to rest in Kilmore graveyard. Sincere condolences are offered to her daughters Mary and Catherine, sister Nora (England), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ar dheis De go raibh si.
