Hazel steps in as the new manager at An Riocht Health and Leisure Club

-

HAZEL BYRNE has taken up the manager’s position at An Ríocht Health and Leisure Club.

The Co. Wicklow native has taken up the position which became vacant when Kate McSweeney took up a full-time teaching post at Scoil Mhuire in Knocknagoshel Village last month.

Ms. Byrne, who moved to Kerry in 2002, is a Health, Leisure and Fitness graduate of I.T. Tralee. For the past ten years she has been working in the health and leisure industry, with experience in health promotion, gym management, sports development and the management of community facilities.

“I’m very fortunate to be managing such a fantastic facility. I think it’s a huge credit to the club and I’m looking forward to the new challenge and building on the hard work of the previous managers,” she said.

In other club news: There is huge enthusiasm again for the autumn Couch-To-5K programme as some 230 participants turned up on its first night back last week.

The series, which does as it says, gets people from their couches and gently and gradually gets them into the frame of mind with fitness at its core. And there are lots of likeminded people for company.

The 12 week series will culminate in a five kilometre run/ jog/walk and a bit of a knees-up afterwards.

Couch-to-5K will continue each Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm at just €2 per person per night.
