The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
THE GAME IN 60 SECONDS
MAIN MAN
At times Dr Crokes had match winners in Buckley, Casey, Burns and Cooper, with Burns’ four points from play a potential heads-up for the Kerry management. Stephen O’Brien showed great leadership for Kenmare but SEAN O’SHEA was particularly central to Kenmare’s efforts, not only kicking three from play but converting nine frees, some of which were into a very testing wind
KEY MOMENT
The four first half goals shifted the momentum to and fro, and in difficult conditions both teams kicked some sublime points. But for influencing the result O’Donovan’s extra-time goal, which was down to the vigilance of Paul Clarke to keep a lost cause alive, proved the decisive score and moment.
TALKING POINT
The teams meet again in 10 days in the County SFC quarter-final in what it, arguably, a more important fixture than this Club Final. Neither team held anything back here, and while Dr Crokes created more gopals chances and created a little more in attack, they now know Kenmare are a formidable team that will punish mistakes and can cause an upset if given a sniff.
