-

THE annual delegates meeting of the Munster branch of the Golfing Union of Ireland will take place on Wednesday, November 29 at 6.30pm in the Hibernian hotel in Mallow.

In compliance with the constitution of the Union, each club is entitled to submit a notice or notices of motion for discussion on the night and the closing date for receipt of these motions is Wednesday October 18 at 5pm.

Clubs are also asked to submit in writing the names of their delegates who will attend the meeting and this must be received no later than Wednesday, November 1 at 5pm.

The number of delegates for each club is determined by the size of the member ship as follows:

Up to 100 members One Delegate, from 101 to 200 members Two Delegates, from 201 to 400 Members Three Delegates and from 401 Members and up, Four Delegates.

Therefore, the Kerry club’s allocation of delegates is: Ballybunion, Dooks, Killarney and Tralee (4 each), Kenmare (3), Ballyheigue, Beaufort, Castlegregory Castleisland, Ceann Sibeal, Killorglin, Ring of Kerry and Waterville (2 each) and Castlerosse, Parknasilla and Ross (1 each). Higgins Great Season Continues David Higgins fabulous season on the Irish PGA domestic circuit continued through August and into early September with wins in Pro-Ams at St Annes, Kilkeel and Castlewarden and second place finishes at Cork, City of Derry and Cairndhu.

However, his greatest rival in the Irish Order of Merit Damian McGrane has also racked up a number of wins during that period to remain at the top of the money list with Higgins in second place and Simon Thornton in third, some way behind Higgins.

There are still a number of events left in the season for Higgins to win the Order of Merit but McGrane won’t go away, so the Waterville man will have to keep producing wins in order to overtake him.
