A BIG THANK YOU

A big thank you to everyone who made it to my 80 th Birthday Party celebrations in the Olde Forge in Killorglin on Friday night 15 th and a special thanks to everybody who gave a kind donation to St. Josephs Nursing Home. Thanking all my family who made the night very special for me,

A special Thank You to the Langford St gentleman, who crowned Eileen the third lady ever to receive ‘Queen of Langford St’ title, 2017. I wonder what her duties will be in the future? Lovely to see Eileen’s relations from the Brandon mountain side, also from Staten Island, Officers Maureen Gill and Tommy Donough, all wishing Eileen a Happy Birthday. Mr.Con McGill arrived with his two daughters from Boston and brought along Paddy McGillycuddy and family, Tralee. Eileen’s friends from Active Retired, Sean Chairde and the Bowlers from Killorglin and Glenbeigh Clubs gave in nice envelopes.

And the news you have all been waiting for ...... how much ........ €1170. Again, a big thank you to all, this money will be a great help for St. Josephs Home, Killorglin

BOWLS TEAM

Killorglin bowlers followed up their recent success in the Sean Chairde League Bowls competition this week by taking the runners up trophy in the Active Retired annual All Ireland Bowling competition.

The Killorglin Bowlers competed against teams from throughout Ireland this week in a three day competition held at the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. The finals were held in the ballroom, with teams getting through by a process of elimination.

Killarney’s team came second for the Shield and Killorglin’s team with Skip James Murphy, Hannah Clifford, Bernard Flynn and Connie Sheehan battling it out with Cooley for the coveted cup. The final went to extra ends as the two teams constantly tied the score. The finish saw Cooley eventually take the prized silver cup, with Killorglin getting the crystal.

Congratulations to James Murphy and his team for such an amazing display of skilful bowling and making it a tough win for the opposition. If you would like to try your hand at this very enjoyable game, then come along to the Killorglin Sports Centre every Tuesday from 1.30-3.30pm or you can you can join us at the GAA grounds in Glenbeigh every Thursday from 1.45-4.00pm -- beginners welcome at both clubs!
