MARRIAGES:

Fr Tom Little officiated at the marriage of Mike, son of Joe and Julie O’ Connor of Toorsaleen and Aoife Mc Donald at the cathedral of the Assumption Carlow on Saturday August 5th. Moss O’ Connor was Best man with Groomsmen Colm and Fergal O’ Connor. Lynsey O’ Hanlon was Maid of Honour with Bridesmaid­s Claire Mc Quill and Grace Hickey. Ella O’ Leary and Lucy O’ Connor were the pretty Flower girls and Liam Mc Donald Jnr was Pageboy. Music was by The Three Tones.

Fr. Denis Malone of officiated at the marriage of Andrew son of Margaret and the late Colin Haworth of Scarriff and Bridget Collins of Templeglan­tine at Most Holy Trinity Church, Templeglan­tine on Saturday August 19th. John Thomas O’Sullivan was best man with groomsmen Cathal Glavin and Ian O’Sullivan. Laura Collins was chief bridesmaid with bridesmaid­s Stephanie Murphy and Aine Hickey. Music was by Claire Heffernan. The reception was held in the Ballyroe Heights hotel.

Congratula­tions also to Stephen son of Jerry and Geraldine Sheehan of Meall na Breac and Caroline Belton who celebrated their marriage in the Malton Hotel Killarney on Saturday August 26th. We all the couples a long and happy life together.

DEATHS:

Having celebrated his ninetieth birthday on September 3rd Mike Sheehan of Ballinakil­la and formerly of Coombaha died peacefully in Kerry University Hospital on Monday September 11th. His remains were removed from the Fitzgerald funeral Home to Our lady Of the Valley Church on Wednesday evening and he was laid to rest in Dromid Cemetery after 11 am Mass, celebrated by Fr. Gerard Finucane P.P. Fr Padraig Sugrue Mastergeeh­y and Fr Pat O’ Sullivan Ballymacel­ligott and The Glen Ballinskel­ligs. Roisin Ryan sang at Mass and at the Graveside. Predecease­d by his wife Sheila. Mike is survived by his daughter Mary, sons Jerry, Peats, Michael and Dan, grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children, son -in-law Francie, daughtersi­n-law Margaret and Monica, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Patrick (Paddy) O’ Shea of Lislinane died peacefully in St. Anne’s Hospital Cahercivee­n on Saturday, August 26th . His remains were removed from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home to St Finian’s Church on Monday evening. Fr Martin Spillane P.P. Caherdanie­l celebrated his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Marion O’ Neill sang and played at Mass and also at the graveside. Paddy is survived by his wife Peggy, son Donal, daughter Maureen, grandchild­ren Chloe, Amber, Danny, Cian and Evie, brother Donal, sister Eileen, daughter in law Aine, son-in-law Paddy, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Tom Flaherty of Baslicon Waterville and late of Cork died peacefully in Ashborough Lodge Nursing Home Milltown on Sunday August 27th. His remains were removed from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home to Lohar Church on Tuesday evening. Fr Martin Spillane P.P. celebrated his Funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and he was laid to rest in Dromid Cemetery. Sincere sympathy to his wife Ann, sons Mike, Andrew and Tom, daughter Stephanie, daughter -in-law Jennifer, grandchild­ren, relatives, neighbours and friends. Suaimhneas siorai da nanamacha dilse.

Congratula­tions to Ruary and Dorothy Rudd who recently celebrated the occasion of their golden wedding anniversar­y with a family meal in the Cahernane Hotel in Killarney (where Dorothy used to work in the early 60s). May the gold become diamond!
