Firies caused more than a little surprise when defeating most people’s favourites for the championship, Na Gaeil, in the Castleisland Mar t Junior Premier Club Championship semi final in Castleisland on Saturday last.
The winners, playing some exciting open football, overcame early setbacks when two of their players were black carded to lead by four points at the interval. Na Gaeil fought back to level the game but two fine goals at the three quar ter stage propelled Firies to a final meeting against Dromid Pearses on a 3-12 to 0-18 scoreline. The date and venue for that game will depend on the progress of South Kerry in the senior championship:
If South Kerry are defeated in the Senior semi-final. Then this game will form the cur tain-raiser to the Senior County championship final in Austin Stack Park on Sunday, October 22 at 1pm
If South Kerry qualify for the Senior County championship final then the Junior Premier Championship final will be played in Killorglin on Saturday, October 28 at 4pm
