A7 graded Stride On Jewel goes fastest over standard

-

THERE was something unusual about Saturday night’s meeting in that an A7 greyhound called Stride On Jewel recorded the fastest time for the standard trip, which was 28.79.

Jointly owned by Billy and Liam Keogh, of Tournafulla, Stride On Jewel accomplished the feat first time out as well, belying her lack of experience with a terrific break from trap 5 and matching it with excellent middle and late pace. A winning margin of nine lengths said it all for her and, very clearly, she is a lady with a very bright future.

Over 570yds, the James O’Donnell-trained Lassa Excitement excelled in getting back on the winning trail with a run of 31.10, while the other winners were: Feohanagh Ben, 18.22; Pennylane Ella, 17.79; Slippy William, 28.98; Carmac Luna, 29.26; Brindle Ciss, 28.89; Ballylane Vic, 17.66; Millridge Zephyr, 29.01.

The going was .10 fast for 525yds and 570yds and .05 fast for 325yds.

TOTE dividends at Tralee Track can occasionally be quite remarkable and that was certainly the case at two meetings last week.

On Tuesday night, Baltoability finished second to Saleen Anna in the ninth race and he paid a whopping €166.90 to a €1 place bet, while on Saturday night another runner-up, Russmur Escalade, paid €55.10 to a similar bet.

The place dividend of €166.90 is surely a national record for the tote and it is reasonable to assume that online betting was responsible.
