60 years of diamonds for Gleneagle Hotel

IT’S a very special time of the year in one part of South Kerry this month, as a famous Killarney hotel prepares to celebrate a huge milestone birthday.

The Gleneagle Hotel, then a small country manor called Flesk House, was born into an age far removed from the one that it exists in now - think the space race, Sputnik and the Showband era - and it would have been very easy for hotel to have followed the same path towards retirement and history as these items.

Yet, it did not. It survived and can now, on its 60 year diamond jubilee anniversary, boast the title as one of the premier hotels in all of Kerry.

To help commmemorate this occassion in its prestigious history, the hotel will host a special dinner dance, this coming Saturday, October 14.

The evening will commence with a three-course gala banquet in the famous Gleneagle Ballroom and will be followed by a step back in time with The Legends of The Cork Showband with special guest Sandy Kelly set to provide entertainment on the night.

Tickets for the celebratory dinner dance are set to cost just €35 per person, with this price including both the banquet and the dance.
