Woman moves in next door to man who assaulted her

-

LISTOWEL District Court heard that a bar woman who had been assaulted at her place of work in Moyvane has since moved in next door to the man who assaulted her - and he even helped her move her belongings into the home.

The details emerged at the most recent proceeds in a four-year-old case against Jody Lynch, 11 Bruach na Gaile, Moyvane, at Listowel District Court on Thursday. Mr Lynch had pleaded guilty to an assault on Mary Hanrahan at the All Star Bar in Moyvane on July 20 of 2013 - with the evidence in the case heard at an earlier sitting.

Solicitor Pat Enright said Mr Lynch had completely changed his ways since the incident, having ‘turned over a new leaf ’.

“The woman he assaulted, the bar lady, she has moved in next door to him and he even helped her move in some of her belongings...there are no problems between them,” Mr Enright informed Judge James O’Connor at Thursday’s sitting of the court.

He said that Mr Lynch has since taken up work operating a track machine on a wind farm development in North Kerry and, when that job is complete, would be travelling up country to work on another construction project.

Judge O’Connor indicated he would strike the case out on the condition that Mr Lynch pay €750 to the Court Poor Box by May 17 of next year.
