€1,000 to keep clean record

A YOUNG Duagh man has been directed to pay €1,000 to escape conviction on a charge of possessing cannabis at Listowel District Court.

Billy Nolan, Trieneragh, Duagh, pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of five cannabis deals worth €125. He was originally charged with possession for purposes of sale or supply but the case progressed only on the lesser charge of unlawful possession as gardaí said they accepted the drugs were for his own use. He has until March 15 next to pay into the court poor box.
