Be sure to tackle annoying and unsightly mould spots

-

THIS is one of the most obvious jobs that needs doing yet also one of the easiest to remedy. We tend to open our windows less in wintertime (for obvious reasons!) so bathrooms, in particular, tend to be a holiday resort for pesky mould which builds up around shower tiles and bathroom tiles, generally.

This problem manifests itself by way of an orange-like mould which forms in between tiles. It’s unsightly if left out of control, while moisture will continue to seep between the tiles the more the grout erodes. Get to the local DIY shop and ask where the grout pens are. In less than five minutes you’ll have those tiles you paid a pretty penny for looking new again.

Mould is also dangerous as the spores can cause respiratory problems. If mould is a problem in your home it needs to be tackled. Check for leaks in windows, radiators, shower trays, and around bathroom sinks. These areas could well be the cause where mould spots are present. Also, every few years you should re-seal the base of shower trays and windows as this is where moisture builds. It is also vitally important that vents are kept free. Aerating rooms is very important as the air flow of rooms, especially bedrooms and bathrooms, must be constantly circulating.
