The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

Mind over age for runners at An Riocht

- Tessa Dennison

THE Kerry Athletics Uneven age, Intermediate and Masters Cross Country championships took place on Sunday October 8 in Currow, supervised by the Team from An Riocht AC.

Though the ground was a bit heavy the weather held good for the duration of the event and another fine day of running was had. There were thrilling finishes across the ages with Cian Spillane and Shauna McCarthy (Farranfore Maine Valley), Luke Merrigan and Alyce O’Connor (Kenmare AC) and Oisin Spillane (Tralee Harriers) taking their second gold of these championships. Many of the county’s vintage athletes once again showed that distance running is all about mind over age.
