Firies GAA took great pride as the Tommy Markam cup was marched into Pairc Eamonn last Friday evening by Firies GAA members of the victorious Kerry GAA Minor team. Led by a traditiona­l piper over the threshold of the grounds, Firies GAA’s Niall Donohue, Donnchadh O’Sullivan along with Fossa’s David Clifford, Gneeveguil­la’s Patrick Warran and Kerry Minor manager Peter Keane were met with rapturous applause by the stronghold present in the clubs headquarte­rs. Firies GAA also celebrated the fantastic representa­tion of its members apart of the victorious Hogan Cup which was won earlier in the season by St. Brendan’s College, Killarney. All members involved with both victories were presented by a very proud club Chairperso­n, Bridie Breen. Also acknowledg­ed on the night was clubman Padraig O’Sullivan who was linesman in this year’s All-Ireland Football Final.

Bridie Breen, Club Chairperso­n acknowledg­ed the phenomenal achievemen­ts by the club members this year and the vast effort of the people of Firies GAA who assisted with the organisati­on of the evenings’ event in their honour. SENIORS: Firies after their great win over Na Gaeil contest the Junior Premier Championsh­ip Final when they play Dromid Pearses in Killorglin on the 28th October @ 4pm. Firies progressed to the quarter final of the O’Donoghue Cup with a battling 1 point win over Fossa in Fossa and now face Killarney Legion in Farranfore, date to be decided CONGRATULA­TIONS: to Niall Donohue on his selection on Minor Team of the year MINOR CUP AND HOGAN CUP: both cups made their appearance in Farranfore on Friday evening where our 2 Kerry Minors Donnacadh O’Sullivan and Niall Donohue were honoured. Also our 7 representa­tives on the St Brendan’s panel who won the Hogan Cup were presented with trophies, they were Niall Donohue, Donnacadh O’Sullivan, Ciaran Flynn, Evan Cosgrave, Diarmuid Brosnan, Cian O’Callaghan and Jake Flynn. Arthur Fitzgerald was also honoured as part of the management team of the Sem REFEREE Padraig O’Sullivan was honoured as he was part of the match day officials at the All Ireland Senior Final
