MUNSTER CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TROPHY QUARTER-FINAL Killarney Athletic 3 Doolans Cow 0

KILLARNEY Athletic advanced to the semi-final of the Keane Jewellers Munster ChampIons League Trophy in impressive fashion at Woodlawn on Sunday after a great win over Cork Business and Shipping League side Doolans Cow.

Both sides kept their cards close to their chests in the opening quarter of the game adopting a cautious approach and waiting for an error to occur to pounce.

The home side got the vital breakthrough four minutes from the break when Sean Cournane set up Jamie Doolan and applied a deadly finish.

Athletic established their authority on the game in the second half and goals from Sean Cournane and William Courtney gave them a comfortable win at the end.

While this was a good win for Athletic a bigger test lie ahead as big guns Janesboro and St Michaels Tipperary are also in the hat for the last 4.

They will be anxious to avoid them in the draw and of course they will be keeping their fingers crossed for a home draw which could make all the difference regarding their prospects of striving to make it to the final.

The title has come to Killarney before as Killarney Celtic won the inaugural competition back in 2011 with a famous win over Waterford side Carrick United.
