Listowel Food Fair’s tasty menu serves winning starter in advance of this month’s main course

DUBLIN Cookery School owner Lynda Booth has won this year’s Book of the Year Award, after the Listowel Food Fair’s judging committee chose her effort, “Fearless Food”, as 2017’s best entrant.

In celebratin­g the winner, festival founder and current Chairman Jimmy Deenihan praised the book for its “quality writing, creative and accessible recipes, overall design and striking photograph­y”, adding that “It follows in a long line of many wonderful cookbooks including the inaugural winner ‘Cornucopia at home’ by Eleanor Heffernan.”

Ms Booth was presented with the award, which is sponsored by Tipperary Crystal, at Hodges Figgis Bookstore, Dawson Street, Dublin, where it was launched by Mr Deenihan.

Ms Booth will now attend a number of events at the 2017 Food Fair, including the November 10 awards ceremony in the Listowel Arms Hotel.

There, presentati­ons will be also be made to the winners of other awards, including the Kerrygold Cheese Competitio­n and the Kerry LEO Best Emerging Artisan Food Product Competitio­n.

Tickets are currently on sale for the gala dinner, which features a unique tasting menu of dishes created using winning products by Listowel Arms Hotel Head Chef Mary Julian.
