The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Four first half goals seal it for Ballyduff
WELL done to both Ballyduff and Causeway on winning Credit Union County Senior hurling league titles last weekend.
On Saturday at Abbeydorney, Ballyduff won the Division 1 competition with a 4-12 to 3-12 win over Kilmoyley.
Four first half goals for Ballyduff put them well in command at half-time, leading by 4-6 to 1-6, but a spirited fight back by Kilmoyley ensured a very competitive second half and they brought the deficit back to just one goal at the end.
After the game, Gerard McCarthy, Oifigeach Iomána Coiste Contae Chiarraí presented the Nicholas Scollard Cup to the winning captain, Mikey Boyle while the Rose Hotel Man of the Match Award went to Pádraig Boyle.
In the Division 2 final, Causeway had a 0-19 to 1-7 win over a very understrength St Brendans side at Kilmoyley on Sunday. Causeway were always in control, aided mainly by the accuracy from frees of the Rose Hotel Man of the Match, John Mike Dooley.
St Brendans got a consolation goal in the 58th minute to reduce the deficit to 9 points at the end. Again, Gerard McCarthy had the duty of presenting the John O’Connor (Lady’s Walk) Cup to the Causeway captain, Stephen Goggin.
