ST. Mary’s senior ladies progress to the quarter-final of the NICC Women’s cup after a comprehensive win over Templeogue. Templeogue took the first score but St. Mary’s Eileen O’Connor responded immediately and from here in the home team took control of the game.

Defensively, St. Mary’s won the most under the boards and despite some missed chances they netted 14 points and held a five point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Liam Culloty’s side had a very strong start to the second quarter a spread of scores saw them push 10 points ahead in the first few minutes. However, Templeogue fought back and reduced the gap to six mid-way through. The homeside continued to make the scores as this quarter progressed. A late three from Denise Dunlea saw St. Mary’s take a 35-19 lead at the half time interval.

The third quarter was basket for basket but Templeogue failed to make up any ground and trailed by 17 points as the sides entered the final 10 minutes.
