Two wins over weekend for Killorglin

KEANES Supervalu Killorglin welcomed bottom of the table Dublin Lions to the sports complex on Sunday afternoon for their second game in a double fixture weekend.

The first score of the game came via a three pointer from Declan Wall from the corner. Indeed , Wall along with Daniel Jokubaitis were in flying form and were jointly responsibl­e for the first 17 points Killorglin scored. Dublin Lions were struggling to find any momentum and at the end of thr first quarter, Keanes led by 12 points.

Killorglin introduced Conor Flynn for the second period and he immediatel­y made his mark, with a three pointer from out top. However, Dublin Lions started to cone back into the game , with Mohammed Sabic hitting 11 points for them. The half finished spectacula­rly when Lions player Igor marcovic stole the ball and finished with a slam dunk.

Dublin Lions started the second half at full speed and reduced the deficit to 9 with a three from Sabic and a two from Marcovic. Eoin O’Sullivan had the crowd on their feet with a huge defensive block and from the fast break, he finished with a lay up.

Killorglin superior quality started to really show in the 4th and once again, coach Ignus Sijanus was able to get his younger players some court time, playing the last 4 minutes with five 17-year olds.

KSV Killorglin 107 LIT Celtics 73

KEANES Supervalu Killorglin went up to Limerick to take on LIT Celtics in the latest round of the league. Killorglin had a 100% record going in to this game, while LIT had just one win from five.

Limerick were first out of the traps with a lay up straight from the tip off but Declan Wall replied immediatel­y for Killorglin.

Daniel Jokubaitis shot a three pointer and followed up with another two points to give Keanes an early lead. Darragh Jones and Ivan Bogdanovic were controllin­g the boards and Keanes ended the quarter ahead by 13.

The second quarter was a repeat of the first, with Keanes dominating all aspects of the game.

Scores from Daniel Jokubaitis and Eoin O’Sullivan saw them extend their lead and when American Kevin Grey scored 11 points without any reply from LIT, the game was effectivel­y over. Half time score was Killorglin 62 LIT Celtics 37.

Limerick came back into the game during the third quarter, primarily via the shooting of the league’s top scorer Matt St Armour. However, Kevin Grey and Darragh Jones found their range again and so Keanes still has a healthy lead at the end if the third 85 to 54.

Limerick came out all guns blazing in the fourth, starting with two three pointers and a lay up with no reply from Killorglin.

However, after the quickly called time out was finished, normal service resumed and in the end, it was a very comfortabl­e win for Killorglin.
