AGM

Killorglin Parish Community Games AGM was held on Sunday the 15th at 8 p.m. in the CYMS the outgoing organising committee, having served three successful years at parish level, stepped down and were thanked for their service. Because there were no volunteers present, the AGM did not succeed in appointing a new committee for 2018 season. As such, Community Games will not go ahead in the Killorglin parish.

CRAFT FAIR

Knocknagos­hel annual Craft Fair will take place in Knocknagos­hel Community Centre on Sunday next, November 5, at midday. This craft fair proved to be a great success over the years and last year saw the biggest craft fair held to date. The proceeds are used to help fund the Knocknagos­hel Over-55s Social Club. AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

The next Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglen will be on Sunday, November 19, when Janice and Moss Carrig will be present. The Rosary will get the afternoon under way at 2.30 p.m. all are welcome.

Masses during November for the Holy Souls in Scartaglen Church will be on Monday, November 6, and Monday, November 20, at 8 p.m. each night. November lists and envelopes are available in all three churches and from the parish office.

Kerry Hospice CHEQUE PRESENTATI­ON

There was great celebratio­ns on Saturday last in Galvin’s Bar Beaufort when the very successful group Threshing For Cancer handed out cheques for over €29,000 to Cancer Charities in Kerry. They have held many events over the last few months and joined forces with Kerry Hospice Foundation for a very successful Greyhound Night. Our Kilorglin Branch did Trojan work on this event which took place in September. Brendan Ferris and his group handed out cheques to the great cancers ervices we have in Kerry and handed a cheque for €8,000 to Kerry Hospice.

Well done and a huge thank you to all involved in Threshing Cancer, who have raised huge money over the last number of years for many charities. To all the sponsors who supported Kerry Hospice Foundation­s for the Greyhound Night we are very grateful for your support. To all who donated to the many events we thank you for your support.

Spa/Fenit Group: This promises to be a great night in the Oyster Tavern. German Cuisine by top master chefs and all proceeds will go to Kerry/ cork link bus and Kerry Hospice. CASTLEISLA­ND NEWS

The Castleisla­nd Hospice fundraisin­g committee have announced November 25 as the date for the popular hospice dinner dance.

For several years the local group organised the Black and White Ball before taking a break for sometime. In the 2015 a dinner dance was held in conjunctio­n with the Con Houlihan Memorial weekend and such was the success that as the saying goes it is back by popular demand.

The dinner dance will be held in the River Island hotel, Flog the Dog will provide the after dinner entertainm­ent and will be followed by a disco late into the night.

The event is expected to be a sell out so it is advisable to contact a committee member to book your tickets in advance. For further details or booking contact 086 2833328. 087 2329415.
