U-14 wins for Killorglin and Castleisland

-

WEST MUNSTER U-14 LEAGUE Killorglin 36 Tralee 24

TWO tries from Derry O’Sullivan put Killorglin into a 12-0 lead by half-time, quickly extended to 17-0 after the restart. Then Tralee scored twice through John Duggan and Jack Bolger to bring it to 17-12. Killorglin responded well with two more tries from O’Sullivan, whose powerful running was too much for the Tralee defence. Donncha Crowley sealed the victory with a try under the posts after a well worked back line attack. There were good performances for Killorglin from Joe Cronin Langham at full back and in the pack from Peadar Whelan and Enda O’Shea who really put themselves about in tackle and breakdown. Tralee centre Donal O’Sullivan and Ohran Maunsell in the front row were particulatly impressive. Killorglin try scorers Derry O’Sullivan (5) and Donncha Crowley. Shane O’Connor kicked 3 conversions.

Castleisland 35 Listowel 5

CASTLEISLAND U14s were too strong for Listowel last Saturday morning with 7 tries coming from Pat Fitzgerald, Podge Brosnan, Mark O’Connor, Conor Wilkinson, Red O’Connor, Trevor O’Sullivan and captain Denis Horan with Donal Daly unerring with the conversions. Listowel’s impressive number 8 Danny Finch did score a good try near the end of the game but it was to be Castleisland’s day. It was a great team performance for the Castleisland lads but an improving Listowel side kept trying until the final whistle.

MUNSTER U-15 GIRLS CONFERENCE C Shannon 25 Listowel 5

LISTOWEL U-15 girls will certainly learn from this defeat as the much more experienced Shannon girls had too much fire power for the north Kerry girls. Leanne Smith did score a good try for Listowel who will play a big local derby against Tralee in the next round of the competition.
