CLASS OF 2017 GRADUATION
OVER 1,000 STUDENTS GRADUATED FROM I.T TRALEE LAST WEEK
IT was a proud moment for students and parents from all around the county when over 1,000 students graduated from Tralee Institute of Technology last week in one of the largest graduation ceremonies in the history of the institute
The Brandon Hotel and Conference Centre was the venue for the three graduation ceremonies which took place last Thursday and Friday.
Normally the ITT graduations take place on a single day but, given the large number of graduates, this year the decision was taken to extend the ceremonies over two days.
In all 30 countries were represented with some graduates hailing from as far afield as China, India and Malaysia.
On Thursday, it was the turn of hundreds of students from the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and the School of Health and Social Sciences. Friday saw students from the School of Business, Computing and Humanities graduating.
President of the Institute Dr Oliver Murphy paid tribute to all of the graduates and their families for what they have achieved, whilst wishing all of those being conferred well in their future endeavours.
After the ceremonies refreshments were served in The Brandon’s Scotia Room as the happy graduates posed for their portraits. There was also a post graduation party and reception organised by the Institute’s Students’ Union.
Most of Tralee’s restaurants and bars also enjoyed a positive spin-off as families celebrated their graduates’ big days.
