Nominations and motions for Annual Convention due Friday

- County Board PRO John O’Leary with all the GAA news

The annual convention of Kerry GAA will be held on Monday December 11th in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. Motion and nomination papers have been sent to Clubs last week as per rule.

Five officer positions will become vacant at Convention due to the 5-Year Rule; they are Munster Council Delegate (2), Hurling Officer, PRO and Cultural Officer, while Paudie Dineen (Assistant Treasurer) and Stephen O’Sullivan (Assistant Secretary) have indicated they are vacating those positions.

This is an ideal chance for anyone with an interest in progressing to County Board level as there is a diverse range of posts becoming vacant ranging from Cultural, to Financial to Administrative to Public Relations. All of those officers whose 5-year term is up can, of course, be nominated for other officer posts other than the one they vacated.

Nominations and Motions for County Convention have to be returned to the county secretary no later than 5pm this Friday. All of those nominated will have until 5pm Monday, November 13 to confirm if they wish to contest positions or not.

Motions re internal Competitions will be dealt with at the November Meeting of County Committee which has been put back by a week to November 27 to allow clubs additional time to formulate motions. These motions re internal fixtures and competitions for 2018 have a new deadline for their return which is now Friday, November 17 at 5pm.
