Ballyduff went down by 1-20 to 2-12 to Kanturk (Cork) in the Munster Intermedia­te Hurling Championsh­ip semi-final at Austin Stack Park last Sunday. However, Ballyduff played superbly and did Kerry hurling proud on the day.

Their next outing will be the North Kerry Senior Championsh­ip Final against St. Brendan’s on Saturday, November 18. of Lixnaw? Can they follow up two County Minor titles in-a-row with an Under 21 success? They might well be able to, but there’s every chance this final comes a year too soon.

Lixnaw won in 2014 and 2015 before claiming the Under 21 title in 2016, while Crotta have claimed their minor titles this year and last. That said you wouldn’t want to be ruling them out of the running this

Minor Hurling League

Well done to Abbeydorne­y/ Tralee Parnells on winning the County Minor hurling league, Division 1B title. In the final last Sunday they had a 7-18 to 2-8 win over Kilmoyley.

Clubs

The Tralee Parnells 5 week winter hurling sessions for boys and girls continue on Tuesday next at Tralee Sports Complex. Equipment is available to borrow and all boys and girls are welcome. Details on the club Facebook site.

On the other hand Causeway would seem at first glance to have the slightly stronger squad, featuring four starters from the Kingdom’s All Ireland Under 21 B triumph over Wicklow – Stephen Murphy, Billy Lyons, Jason Diggins and Brandon Barrett. Crotta didn’t have any starters.

On top of that Causeway toppled the favourites for this year’s title, Lixnaw in the

night goes ahead on Friday, November 17 at the Rose Hotel.

Crotta O’Neills Hurling Club will host a 5-week come-and-try hurling sessions for boys and girls of Dromclough NS in St. Senan’s Sports Hall on Saturdays from 5.30 to 6.30pm. Sessions are for 3rd and 4th class children, no charge. Hurleys and helmets be provided.

The Tom Healy under 15 hurling tournament (under lights) will conclude at Abbeydorne­y on this Friday. The semi-finals, Ballyheigu­e v Ballyduff and Abbeydorne­y v Kilmoyley are at 7pm. The Shield quarter-final, and were hugely impressive winners over St Brendans last weekend, 3-13 to 2-5, in the semi-final. Crotta, meanwhile, needed extra-time to see off Abbeydorne­y / Ballyheigh­ue.

As romantic a notion it might be for Crotta to win an underage double, the smart money has got to be on Causeway on this occasion.

Final for losing semi-finalists is at 7.30pm with the Cup Final at 8pm.

The closing date for Nomination­s for the County Hurling Officer position is 5pm this Friday. The term of Gerard McCarthy will end under the 5-year rule at the forthcomin­g County Convention.

COISTE SCÓR AGM Jack Hennessy

THE AGM of Coiste Scór Chiarraí took place at the Austin Stack Park, Pavilion on Wednesday with former Coiste Scór Chiarraí chairmen Diarmuid O’Shea, Dromid Pearses, and Diarmuid Ó Murchu, Dingle, and County Board treasurer Dermot ‘Weeshie’ Lynch in attendance.

Chairperso­n Leona Twiss, having completed her five-year term as County Board Cultural Officer, will be vacating her position at the County Board Convention, wished the incoming Cultural Officer the best of luck and thanked all who helped promote Scór during her term of Office.

Secretary Suzanne Ni Laoire gave a detailed account of the happenings during the year that brought All Ireland honours to the Spa Figure Dancers at Scór na nÓg while the club’s Quiz team were just pipped to make it a three in-a-row. Rathmore Quiz team were our representa­tives at Senior Scór and having performed well just failed in their attempt to bring national honours to the Kingdom. She also thanked the sponsors and especially Estuary Print, Ballylongf­ord.

There was just one change in personnel from the previous year with PJ Mulvihill, Moyvane coming in as Chief Steward. All remaining officers were returned unopposed.
