Gardaí locate missing Tralee man
A TRALEE man who had been missing for over four months has been located.
John Burke (21) from Tralee was reported missing in mid June and a nationwide appeal was made seeking the public’s help in tracing him.
The young man had last been seen in Cork in mid June and though he was understood to have remained in the city, a widespread search failed to find any trace of him save for information that, on an unknown date, he had tried to access a homeless shelter in the city.
Last month his family renewed their appeal for help in finding Mr Burke.
This appeal led to a significant breakthrough in the search when a woman who had assisted him in dealing with a welfare related issue and who had heard the family’s appeal contacted Gardaí.
In October – on foot of this new information – Gardaí were able to make contact with Mr Burke who is reported to be safe and well.
Mr Burke’s family have thanked the public for their help in the four-month search for the Tralee man.
