KILLARNEY TERESA IRWIN IS SOROPTIMISTS’ NEW NATIONAL PRESIDENT

-

KILLARNEY woman Teresa Irwin has been appointed National President of Soroptimists Ireland having served as treasurer on the organisation’s national executive for the past number of years.

Teresa is a member of the Killarney Soroptimists Branch and she described her new role as a huge source of personal pride and praised what is a fantastic organisation run by volunteers.

Since her appointment at October’s Soroptimists’ International Conference in Cardiff, empathy is a key cornerstone of Teresa’s vision which is something dear to her heart and something she hopes to achieve more of during her term as President.

“Empathy really is very important and training young children to show empathy for each other is of huge value. Lotte Lyne from Killarney and her ‘Roots of Empathy’ programme is a valuable template

in this regard,” Teresa said.

Teresa is very much looking forward to Killarney hosting the National Conference at The Brehon Hotel in May.

“This event is held every second year and it’s a huge honour to host it in your home town when Soroptimist organisations from across Great Britain and Ireland will attend,” Teresa added.
