The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Yet more shocking scenes of dumping on Short Mountain
VIEWS of mounting piles of noxious rubbish are becoming as much a fixture at the Short Mountain south of Tralee as the panorama of mid-Kerry and the Reeks the vantage commands.
Just a week after The Kerryman published a photograph of a 140-kg mound of broken glass dumped on the southern car park viewing point, further scenes of widescale dumping on the mountain have been revealed.
It’s estimated that up to a tonne of domestic waste has been dumped on the ‘Old Bog Road’ a few kilometres from the viewing park, with everything from kids’ bikes and toys to pallets, plastics and far filthier objects strewn along the mountain boreen.
The Kerryman understands that Kerry County Council is aware of this latest incident of fly-tipping on the mountain and are set to sift through the waste as they launch an investigation into its provenance.
